A network monitoring solution that enables a user or administrator to monitor the status of various networked devices on the local network.
Features: 10-Strike Network Monitor is a network monitoring solution that enables a user or a network administrator to check on the status of networked devices on a local network. It can monitor routers, switches, as well as computers connected to the local network. The monitoring is done through the use of ICMP messages and SNMP messages, and the status returned is displayed in either green (indicating success) or red (failure). Additionally, it can also monitor the resources on the devices (such as files, folders, VPN connections from/to, free space available, JavaScript and VBScript results, etc.). It also has the capability to monitor the state of an SQL database (both MS SQL and MySQL monitoring) and ODBC databases.
Network monitoring capabilities include TCP port monitoring, DNS, ARP, SNMP and NetBIOS monitoring, monitoring the status of FTP & HTTP servers, Switch Port Monitoring and MAC address monitoring. Apart from those mentioned before the device monitoring monitors the states of Services, and the states of running Processes.
Alerts are sent out as and when an event occurs. Alerts can be sent out in various ways: a pop-up message on the administrators screen (including sound alerts), an email sent to a remote location, and sending an SMS. Alerts can also trigger certain pre-defined functionality.
Overall: This is a pretty decent solution for network enthusiasts. Network administrators will probably desire additional functionality for it to be really attractive for their purposes (example: automatic network discovery, syslog monitoring etc.). The SQL capabilities make up somewhat for the administrative limitations. And other than that the fact that it also monitors the resources (files, folders, free space, VPN connections) on the devices that are on the local network also make this quite a good solution. The user interface is simple and gets all required tasks done easily.
